RetirePath Advisors are sponsoring the Third Annual Community Fundraiser 0.5K “race” that will support Aspire for Greatness, a nonprofit youth program benefitting Fremont and surrounding communities.
The “I Glazed My Way Through the .5K” event is scheduled for 9:30 Saturday morning in the Good Shepard Lutheran Church parking lot.
“It is a small jaunt – just .5K,” said Valerie Prenzlow of RetirePath Advisors. “It is not a typical 5K. It is great for families and people who can’t do a 5K but can come out and have a little fun walk. There will be donuts, juice, coffee as well as some fun games for the family and face painting.”
Director Kristen Widman said Aspire is a locally grown nonprofit that provides programming for older youths.
“We serve kids in Fremont and surrounding communities who are in fifth- through 12th-grade,” she said. “We will be doing the summer program this year through the lunch program that is held at the Presbyterian Church.”
Widman said in addition to lunch, participants play games, go on field trips and have small group time.
“We talk about things like entrepreneurship and life skills and give them some content to help them through to the next year,” she said. “We also provide an after-school program and new yearlong mentoring program.”
Prenzlow said participants will receive a swag bag. She notes that registration begins at 8:45 a.m.
“Everyone will start at 9:30,” she said. “Then we’ll have the events and family fun stuff right after that.”
