Wisner businesswoman dies in 2-vehicle accident

A Wisner businesswoman died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning.
Tara Lantz, 38, owner and operator of Lantz’s Steakhouse, was a passenger in a pickup driven by her husband, Curt Lantz Jr. of Beemer when the accident occurred at 12:05 a.m. two miles east of Wisner on Highway 275. According to the Cuming County Sheriff’s office, a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Jacob Kenney of Omaha was headed westbound when it appeared to have crossed the center line striking Lantz’s 2017 Ford F-150 pickup which was headed east.
Tara Lantz was pronounced dead at the scene. Curt Lantz was transported to Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, and was later transported to a hospital in Omaha.
The Sheriff’s Office said Jacob Kenney was unable to be located at the scene of the accident. During the subsequent search, it was discovered that a personal vehicle of a responder was missing.
Kenney and the responder’s stolen vehicle were located by law enforcement officials east of the Highway 275 and Highway 15 junction in Cuming County.
After Kenney received medical treatment and was released from Faith Regional Health Services, he was arrested on multiple charges and taken to the Madison County Jail.
Services for Tara Lantz are pending at Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner.
