Gerald W. Hoegermeyer, 79, of Fremont, formerly of rural Hooper, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at Dunklau Gardens.
Gerald was born November 7, 1942, in Fremont to Walter and Lillie ‘Katt’ Hoegermeyer. He was raised on the family farm east of Winslow. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1960 and the University of Nebraska Agriculture College in 1964, then returned to the family farm. He continued to live on the farm until moving to Fremont in December of 2018. Gerald married Sharon Morgan on November 27, 1965, at First Christian Church in Fremont. While farming, Gerald served in the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow holding many of the offices in the church.
Gerald loved fishing, sightseeing with Sharon, and the outdoors. Later in life, he loved to do photography and he and Sharon took up country dancing. The most important thing to Gerald was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Brother-in-law – Thomas (Ginger) Morgan of Fremont
 
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy (and her husband William) Lederer, Sisters-in-law Nancy Hewitt and Janice Hayes, and brother-in-law Norman Paasch.
 
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to the church. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
