During the month of December 2021, sixteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
♦ These 16 fatalities occurred in 14 fatal crashes.
♦ Four of the eleven vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, four were using seatbelts, and
three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
♦ Twelve of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
♦ There was one fatality on the interstate, eight on other highways, and seven on local roads.
♦ Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
♦ Three of the fatalities were pedestrians.
♦ There were 10 fatalities in December of 2020.
♦ Only 53 of the 183 vehicle occupants killed during 2021 were using seatbelts.
