Fremont man injured in motorcycle accident.

A Fremont man was injured in a motorcycle accident on Saturday night.
At about 10:10 p.m., Mark D. Carey, 59, was injured in an accident in the 600 block of west South Street. Carey was driving his 2007 Harley Davidson westbound on South Street when he collided with a 2017 Peterbilt truck tractor that was parked on the north side of South Street.
The collision popped the front tire on the motorcycle, causing Carey to lose control and strike a curbside mailbox. He was thrown from the motorcycle and later taken by ambulance to Methodist Fremont Health. He was then life-flighted by helicopter to an Omaha hospital due to his injuries.
Carey’s motorcycle sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage while the Peterbilt truck tractor sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage. The damage to the mailbox is estimated at $150.
Authorities have not been able to provide an update on Carey’s condition.
