Health department issues COVID-19 update

The Three Rivers Public Health Department issued its COVID-19 update on Wednesday.

There were 141 cases in the past seven days and 345 in the past 14. Officials reported 193 COVID-19 positive inpatients in the OMHCC region, 32 of which are currently on ventilators.

“We have seen a decrease in the amount of cases this week when compared to last week,” said Terra Uhing, executive director for Three Rivers. “While the change may be attributed to decreased testing over the (Labor Day) holiday weekend, we hope to continue to see decreased case counts in weeks to come.”

Three Rivers has identified 13 new lab-confirmed variants of concern within the health district.

The new variants of concern are the B.1.617 Delta variant (India) with two in Dodge County, three in Saunders County and eight in Washington County.

Three Rivers has announced the addition of three mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics later this week. They are:

  • Regency II Mobile Home Park, 807 S. Broad St., in Fremont from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
  • Faith Food Pantry — Immanuel Lutheran Church, 27053 County Road 12, in Hooper from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday.
  • City Park in Herman during Herman Days, noon to 2 Saturday afternoon.
