Walnut Media has awarded six $1,000 scholarships to student-athletes in Fremont for the 2021-22 school year.
The scholarships were awarded based on a vote by the Sportscasters Club for The Best Mix 105.5/Big Dog 1340.
Lauren Baker and Shea Gossett were honored from Archbishop Bergan High School. Baker will study pre-medicine at Concordia. Gossett will study pre-physical therapy while playing football at Wayne State College.
Glause will attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and study agribusiness/agricultural economics. Escmilla plans on attending Crown College and will major in Biblical Counseling/Psychology with a minor in Biblical Studies.
Morgan Kalisek and Jake Rueschhoff of Midland University were also honored.
Kalisek is a sophomore studying sports marketing. The Fremont native is also a member of the MU women’s flag football team. Rueschhoff is a junior guard for Coach Oliver Drake on the men’s basketball team. His major is undeclared.
