The First State Bank American Legion seniors baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Grand Island Home Federal, Friday, at Ryder Park, 8-7 and 1-0.  First State is 6-6 on the season and will host Gretna tomorrow night at 7:30 at Nick Novak Field.  The game will be broadcast on Big Dog Country, 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.
 
 
 
 
 
The 14th Annual Warrior All-Star High School Basketball Classic was held Saturday night at the Midland University Wikert Event Center.  In the girls game, the Light Jersey squad beat the Dark, 93-70.  Archbishop Bergan’s Lauren Baker scored 23 points.  Pender’s Ashley Ostrand scored 21 and had 11 rebounds.  Wahoo’s Kelsie Sears added 14.  Pender’s Zoey Lehmkuhl scored 13 and Fort Calhoun’s Abbie Anderson added 12.  The Dark were led by West Point-Beemer’s Sydney Swanson with 18 points.  BRLD’s Caragan Tietz scored 14, while West Point-Beemer’s Reece Snodgrass had 12 points and 12 rebounds.  The Bobbie Gahan MVP Awards went to Ostrand and Swanson.
In the boys’ game, the Dark defeated the Light 97-95 in overtime.  Elkhorn’s Colton Uhing scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds.  North Bend Central’s Jaxon Wietfeld scored 18.  BRLD’s Lucas Vogt added 12.  Oakland-Craig’s Gunnar Ray had 12 points and Mead’s Hunter Pickworth scored 12, as well.  The Light were led by Wahoo’s Trevor Kasischke with 27 points and 12 rebounds.  Yutan’s Brady Timm scored 25.  Silas Hughes of Bennington added 12 and Riley Hoetfelker of Logan View/Scribner-Snyder scored 11.  The Dewaine Gahan MVP awards went to Uhing and Kasischke.
In Dodge County Baseball league action, yesterday, Wahoo defeated West Point, 12-2 in seven innings and Scribner downed North Bend, 8-7 in 11 innings.
