Midland to Host Mayville State in NAIA Volleyball Opening Round

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University will host Mayville State University in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship Opening Round on Saturday. The No. 12-ranked Warriors and the (RV) Comets will take to the court inside Wikert Event Center in Fremont, Nebraska for a 2:00 p.m. first serve.
The match is one of 24 opening-round contests at campus locations across the nation. Winners of Saturday’s matches will advance to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa for pool play beginning on April 27.
After missing out on the NAIA National Tournament a season ago, Midland is back in the tournament for the seventh time in eight seasons. The Warriors are ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll and own an 11-9 record. They earned an at-large bid out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference and are led by Paul Giesselmann in his 11th season.
Mayville State University is making its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Volleyball Postseason. The Comets earned an at-large bid from the North Star Athletic Association after a 23-10 campaign. They were second in their conference during the regular season and are coached by Lindsey Johnson in her 13th season.
