Three Rivers risk dial sees slight uptick

The Three Rivers Community Risk Dials for the jurisdiction of Dodge, Washington and Saunders counties have been updated for the week.

The three-county jurisdiction saw a slight uptick to 2.43 from 2.29 the previous week. Dodge and Washington counties remained at 2.29 while Saunders jumped from 2.29 to 2.43.

The three-county hike is due to an increase in the number of cases over the past three weeks in addition to a decrease in ICU bed availability. There was no change in ventilator availability.

This week, there was also a slight increase in the ability to contact trace, a decrease in weekly positivity, a decrease in community spread, and a decrease in the percentage of available ICU beds. Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections also increased this week.

Terra Uhing, executive director of the Three Rivers Public Health Department, said officials continue to make good progress on vaccinations. As of Wednesday, 31.25 percent of those 16 and older in the three-county jurisdiction have been vaccinated.

There were two deaths last week due to the virus. Both were Dodge County residents — a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s. That brings the total death count to 118 in the jurisdiction, including 74 in Dodge, 20 in Saunders and 24 in Washington.
