FREMONT – Groundwater safety and the construction of the expressway system were main topics during this week’s City News Update.
Concern has been raised in recent weeks about the threat to ground water in Saunders County from the operations of the AlTen Ethonol Plant near Mead. Bob Flittie asked Fremont City Administrator, Brian
Newton, whether the City would have concerns should there ever be a threat to OUR public water supply by pollutants upstream:
 

City Administrator Brian Newton will offer testimony at Wednesday’s Legislative hearing dealing with LB-542, offered by Senator Lynn Walz, to provide for the issuing of bonds to cover construction costs to get the Expressway system back on track and built. He shared these comments with Bob Flittie on Monday:

 
And Newton said almost all other states allow for road-bonding authority:
