Ronald “Ron” Arthur Montgomery

Ronald “Ron” Arthur Montgomery, 78 years, of Fremont, Nebraska passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.  Ron was born June 16, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Beulah (Warner) Montgomery.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1985, retiring with honors in 1990.  His Navy career took him all over the United States and the world including the Philippines where he met his beloved wife Maria, “Tess” Toomsen.  They married on July 30, 1981 in Fremont, Nebraska and made Fremont their home in 1985.  Ron was a member of the American Legion Post #20 and attended the Fremont Church of the Nazarene.  He was a pillar of strength and faith to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Tess; sons Scott Montgomery (special friend Kristal Fuller) of Hennepin, Illinois, Dale (Anna) Montgomery of Bellingham, Washington, and Dennis Bagalawis of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughters Cyndi (Jason) Cambia of Maple Valley, Washington, Elaine (Terry) Root of Lincoln and Christine (Shawn) O’Reilly of Fremont; sisters, Pam Hanson and Denise Montgomery both of Fremont; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shane A. Montgomery; and brother-in-law, Terry Hanson and Terry Carnahan.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 10:00 am at the Fremont Church of the Nazarene, followed by burial at Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
