Local Sports Today with Rich Ray – January 15

FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today, with Rich Ray:

Games postponed:

With the blizzard in Eastern Nebraska today, many schools have called off classes, thus postponing the local sports schedule.

Basketball:

The Fremont High boys basketball team traveled to Lincoln last night, and took on the Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks.  Fremont would take the lead going into halftime, but could not hold on, suffering a 66-56 loss.  The Silverhawks were led in scoring by Jared Bohrer with 20 points.  Myles Hoehne added 16 and Jamison Focht scored 11.  Fremont was led by Carter Sintek with 17 points.  Micah Moore added 12.  Lincoln Southwest is 3-4 on the season and plays at Gretna, tomorrow.  Fremont is 2-9 and hosts Omaha Creighton Prep, tomorrow afternoon.
The Archbishop Bergan Lady Knight basketball team was on the road last night, as well.  With more, here’s Chris Whitney:

The Blair girls and boys basketball teams played at home, last night.  With more, here’s Brian Abrahams:

Wrestling:

In high school wrestling last night, the Bergan Knights dropped a couple of duals, falling to Raymond Central, 60-16 and to Malcolm, 54-18.
In high school wrestling, last night, Blair defeated Missouri Valley, 41-33.
The No. 6 Nebraska wrestling team is set for its first road trip of the season, meeting top-ranked Iowa on Friday in Iowa City. The matchup starts at 8:10 p.m.

Indoor Track & Field:

The Nebraska track and field team begins the 2021 indoor season at home this Saturday with the Husker Triangular. Nebraska will host fellow Big Ten Conference foes Iowa and Minnesota in the non-scored meet. Saturday’s events will begin at 11:30 a.m.

This weekend:

The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their postseason run with an AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 17.  Kickoff will be 2pm.  The game will be broadcast on Mix 105.5, FM, with the Chiefs Radio Network.
