USACE to Hold Public Meeting Regarding Flood Risk Management Study Results

FREMONT – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 7 pm to discuss the results of their Section 205 Flood Risk Management Feasibility Study.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) evaluated two alternatives in regards to flood mitigation within the City of Fremont.
Alternative 1 – no-action alternative and Alternative 2 (the selected alternative) – nonstructural measures of 127 total structures. Nonstructural flood mitigation measures include elevation, dry floodproofing, and wet floodproofing. The estimated cost of these flood mitigation measures is $11,313,053 of which the USACE is proposing to provide 65% of the cost or $7,353,485.
The USACE will discuss the results of the study, eligibility requirements to participate in the program, and answer questions.
The public is encouraged to attend to learn more, especially those owning structures in the floodplain and those who are interested in flood mitigation measures. The USACE program is limited to structures inside the city limits.
The link to the meeting and a copy of the study can be found on the home page of the City of Fremont’s website in the bottom left-hand corner under Fremont News at www.fremontne.gov.
The Zoom meeting ID is 95037694771.
