FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today, from the desk of Rich Ray:
The Fremont High girls and boys basketball teams hosted the Columbus Discoverers last night at Al Bahe Gymnasium. In the girls game, Fremont won 87-43. Taylor McCabe led Fremont is scoring with 25 points. Charli Earth added 16. Sarah Shepard had 15, McKenna Murphy scored 11 and Bella Keaton had 10. Columbus was led by Jaleigh Adams-Tuls with 12 points. Columbus is 2-7 and hosts Lincoln High on Saturday. Fremont is 9-2 and plays Glenwood (IA) in the Border/Battle at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Saturday, at 4pm.
In the boys game, Fremont beat Columbus, 83-79. Carter Sintek paced the Tigers with 28 points. Drew Sellon added 20 and Micah Moore scored 19. Columbus got 20 points from Sam Kwiapnowski, 18 each from Blake Thomson and Ernest Hausman and 17 from Ean Luebbe. Columbus is 0-9 and hosts Lincoln High, Saturday. Fremont is 2-7 and plays at Lincoln East, Saturday, at 5pm.
