Fremont – The MainStreet Christmas Walk will take place this weekend to support Small Business Saturday and promote the downtown area.
The annual event, put on by MainStreet of Fremont will feature local business offerings including discounts and giveaways, live music, and free horse carriage rides.
Several businesses will have their doors open starting at 9 am on Saturday offering these great deals. The community is invited to come and enjoy the day in downtown Fremont and children can see Santa’s live reindeer from 4-7 pm in the parking lot located at 6th Street and Park Avenue.
The Christmas Walk will also feature a tree lighting event in the same location at 5:30 pm.
“We’re so excited that we are still able to put on this event this year and bring the holiday spirit into the community. We are thankful that our local businesses can get that extra boost during this difficult time,” said Shannon Mullen, interim director of MainStreet of Fremont.
Masks and hand sanitizing stations will be available at all of the downtown businesses open for the event.

MainStreet of Fremont is also hosting a business window decorating contest. Businesses throughout Fremont were invited to decorate their windows and submit a photo to MainStreet’s website.
Starting Saturday, citizens can go to MainStreet’s Facebook page and vote for their favorite submission. Voting closes on December 18th and they will announce the winner shortly after.
The winning business will receive a cash prize of $500.
