FREMONT  – Here’s today’s look at local sports with Rich Ray:
In high school volleyball, Bergan defeated Cedar Bluffs 25-19: 25-18: 25-8.
Stand out performers of the evening were Summer Bojanski with 25points/3 aces and Carlee Hapke, with 16points 4 ace serves. Lauren Baker lead the way with 18 kills, 2blocks and Paige Frickenstein tallied five kills. Sets: Rebecca Baker. 65/65. 22 set assists. Digs: Lauren, 10; Summer, 9.
Bergan is 22-10 and plays Mead tonight at 7:00 in the D1-2 Sub-District Final, on KHUB.
In collegiate football, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced their football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 24, 2020. For the fourth week in a row, a Midland University player has earned honors on special teams as Jarod Quinonez was named to this week’s honor roll. He is joined by Noah Clayburg of Dordt University (offense) and Robert Robinson of Briar Cliff (defense).
Quinonez, a freshman from San Diego, California, was perfect on all of his kicks on Saturday. He accounted for 13 total points in Midland’s 55-27 win over Jamestown. He connected on 7-of-7 point-after kicks, and was 2-of-2 on field goals connecting form 34 yards and 39 yards.
