Shoplifting Man Pulls Out Machete

FREMONT – Fremont Police reported two shoplifting incidents on Wednesday, October 21.

At approximately 5:10 pm, a theft by shoplifting complaint was made at a business in the 2800 block of east 23rd Street. It was reported that a male left the store with a box of various tools without paying.

When a store employee attempted to stop the man, the man displayed a machete and left the store.  The male is described as white, approximately 5’10” in height, slim build, dreadlocked hair that is black on one side and white on the other. The man also had two “sleeve” tattoos and possibly the word “Hate” tattooed on one hand. The estimated loss to the store is $100.00.

Fremont Police also received another report of shoplifting at a business in the 3000 block of east 23rd Avenue north at approximately 7:40 pm.

Raymond J. Aranda, 22, and Matthew D. Johnston, 21, of Fresno, CA were cited on suspicion of theft by shoplifting after being accused of not paying for various grocery items valued at approximately $80.00.
