Mayor Getzschman Receives Ag Advocacy Award By WholeStone Farms

FREMONT – On Friday, October 16, Mayor Scott Getzschman received an award from WholeStone Farms for his contributions and advocacy for the agricultural industry during his 10 years as the Mayor of Fremont.
At the beginning of the presentation, CEO Scott Webb gave remarks, sharing that watching Getzschman first-hand for the past two years has been a pleasure. “He has served this community, tirelessly, and very well for the past ten years as Mayor in my opinion. He’s been very pro-business and an advocate, always looking out for what’s best for the community of Fremont.”
Webb also shared that Getzschman’s strong advocacy of the ag industry has been a great asset to WholeStone and its 1,300 employees.

“Something very important to us here at WholeStone is Getzschman’s solid understanding and support of agriculture, not only in Fremont but in the state of Nebraska,” said Webb. “We just want to thank you Mayor Getzschman for your dedication and ten years of service to the Fremont community and your support of the ag-food industry.”
Webb then presented Mayor Getzschman with a plaque that reads, “In Appreciation of his Advocacy for the Ag Industry, Wholestone Farms Recognizes Mayor Scott Getzschman for Outstanding Mayoral Service.
Getzschman humbly accepted the award and said, “It takes a community to make this happen. Ten years ago, when I became the mayor, I knew that Fremont needed change and we needed to drive growth. The council and I went through our comprehensive plan, and it was evident that we weren’t going to be anything else but an ag-based community. That was of the utmost priority for us.”
Getzschman praised WholeStone’s work to expand and remodel the plant since they purchased the plant from Hormel in 2018. The Fremont plant has also become WholeStone’s corporate headquarters.
“I’m excited for the growth that you’ve had and this beautiful facility. I just don’t think people realize what’s here, and the gem, that, in all reality, fell into our laps.
Mayor Getzschman said he will continue to be supportive of the ag industry and WholeStone for years to come.
“WholeStone has truly been a blessing for Fremont, and even though I won’t be at the helm, you will still have my full support as you continue to progress towards a double shift and that future growth, as it is important to you in your overall plan.”
