No Vote at Sunday Meeting: Big Ten Yet to Make Return to Play Decision

ROSEMONT, IL – The Big Ten presidents were presented with a comprehensive plan to conduct a fall football season on Sunday night, but a final decision is still to come.
A person with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that the full Council of Presidents and Chancellors heard from all the subcommittees of the conference’s Return to Competition Task Force over two and half hours, with the medical subcommittee making a presentation to a subgroup of presidents and chancellors. The Return to Competition task force includes presidents and chancellors from Northwestern, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Rutgers, Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan State.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Big Ten was not making its return to competition plans public. Although questions were asked and options discussed, the AP source said the meeting broke up without the presidents and chancellors voting, either officially or in a straw poll. The meeting ended with no set plans for to reconvene.
UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green and Athletic Director Bill Moos had no comment Sunday.
In past interviews, Huskers head coach Scott Frost has said that the team could be ready to play with three weeks of practice, although the Huskers have not been allowed in full pads since the end of last year’s final game.
