City News This Week with Bob Flittie & Brian Newton – September 8

FREMONT – During this week’s City News Update, Bob and Brian discussed  the City’s continued work on permanent repairs to the local levee system.
Tuesday night’s City Council meeting dealt with making permanent repairs to the Fremont-Farmland Levee, which had breached in two places during the March, 2019 Flood. City Administrator Brian Newton talked with Bob Flittie Tuesday about the effort to make those repairs,  and to extend the Levee northward for added protection for Fremont:

 
Newton noted that 75% of the repair costs would be reimbursed by FEMA:

 
 
In other City news this week Newton recently did a comparison of Fremont’s tax revenues to 3 other cities: Hastings, Norfolk and North Platte. Here’s what he found in 2017:
