FSB Seniors Take Game One, 6-0, Against Gretna

FREMONT – The First State Bank American Legion Seniors baseball team hosted Gretna in game one of the Fremont/Gretna best-of-five series, Tuesday night at Novak Field.
First State got a masterful pitching performance from Connor Sintek, and won the game 6-0.  Sintek pitched a complete game one-hitter, striking out twelve and walking one.  First State scored two in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth and two more in the sixth.  Sam Gifford was 2-for-4 with an rbi.  Sintek went 3-for-4 with 2 rbi’s.  Cal Jahnke was 2-for-3.  First State is 9-9 while Gretna is 14-11.  First State leads the series, one game to none, with game two tomorrow night at Gretna at 6:30pm.
Meanwhile, on the Juniors side, the First State Juniors defeated Gretna 8-1, Monday night, in game one of the juniors Fremont/Gretna series.  Game two is tonight at Nick Novak Field at 6:30pm.

The Dodge County Baseball League Playoffs continue tonight.  In the winner’s bracket, Wahoo will host Dodge, while West Point will entertain Arlington.  In the loser’s bracket semifinals, Scribner plays at Leigh/Schuyler and Blair plays at North Bend.  All games tonight are at 7:30pm.
