DICKINSON, ND – The Fremont Moo got excellent starting pitching for the second straight game en route to a 4-2 win over Badlands Wednesday night. The win clinched the season series for the Moo over the defending Expedition League champion Big Sticks, four games to two, with no more meetings scheduled between the two teams in the regular season.
Listen to the game recap:

Isaac Van Dyke was stellar in his first start of the season, scattering 10 hits allowed over 7.1 innings pitched. He walked no one and struck out six. Emmett Olsen and Alex Mackinnon threw the final 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three.

For the fifth straight game, the Moo (11-9) scored the first run. With one out in the top of the second, Taylor Howell drew a walk. Two batters later, Cooper Morrison lined a single to left. Jaxson Simmerman singled to center, scoring Howell and giving Fremont a 1-0 lead. A Nick Wimmers RBI single in the bottom of the inning tied the game at one.
Luke White gave the Moo the lead back in thunderous fashion in the third inning. With one out and no one on, White hammered a majestic home run over the left field fence to push Fremont back ahead 2-1.
Ronnie McBride’s aggressiveness on the bases set up the third run in the fifth. After drawing a leadoff walk, McBride forced a balk, then stole third, then scored on White’s sacrifice fly to right field to push Fremont’s lead to 3-1. Brock Reller led off the sixth with a home run to push the lead to 4-1. Connor Van Cleave led off the bottom of the sixth with a homer, but the Big Sticks would draw no closer than 4-2.

White’s home run was his fourth of the year, moving into a tie for second in the Expedition League for homers while his two RBI pushed him into the league lead in RBI with 20 on the season. Dillon Sears was 2-for-3 with a walk, while Cooper Morrison was 2-for-4 with a double.
The Moo will take their first off day of the season after playing 20 games in 20 straight days to start the season, then host Pierre for a brief two-game series starting Friday night at 7:05 pm at historic Moller Field. Friday night’s game is the “Goin’ Country” theme night, where local sportscaster Rich Ray will throw out the first pitch and Big Dog 98.9/1340 will provide prizes to lucky attendees throughout the evening.
