Men’s Basketball Earns Team Academic Award, Two Individuals Honored

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the eighth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season.
Midland University’s men’s basketball team has earned the award for the fourth consecutive year under head coach Oliver Drake.
On Wednesday, juniors Bowen Sandquist and Tanner DeKock earned individual recognition from the NABC as they were named to the NABC’s 2019-20 Honors Court. That award is given to student-athletes who have a GPA of 3.2 or higher in the classroom.
“We are really proud of our guys and their commitment to the classroom,” commented Coach Drake. “Our program is thrilled to be recognized by the NABC for the fifth consecutive year. We are equally proud of Bo and Tanner to be named to the Honors Court. They are great leaders for our team on and off the court.”
