FSB Seniors Split Doubleheader Against Norfolk

FREMONT – The First State Bank American Legion Seniors Baseball team split a doubleheader with Norfolk yesterday at Novak Field.  First State won game one, 12-4 in eight innings, while Norfolk won game two, 3-2.
In the first game, First State trailed 2-0 early, but scored nine in the bottom of the fourth to take control.  In game two, both teams scored a pair of runs in the third inning, but Norfolk would add the eventual game winner in the top of the seventh, as Dylan Rodgers singled home Colby Mrsny to give the visitors the lead for good.
Norfolk’s Jaden Driscoll was the winning pitcher, working all seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out 13 and walking one.  Dawson Glause started on the mound for First State, working five innings.  Brenton Pitt pitched the final two, and suffered the loss.  Norfolk put together just three hits in the win, while First State’s Pitt went 2-for-3 in the loss.
Norfolk is 12-5 on the season while First State is 8-7.  First State returns to action, Thursday night at Sherman Field, in Lincoln, versus Lincoln Pius X.  The 7:30 game will be broadcast on Big Dog Country 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.

In Dodge County Baseball League action, yesterday, Wahoo beat Dodge, 3-2; Leigh/Schuyler defeated West Point, 8-7 and Blair downed Scribner 3-2.
