Fremont And Bergan Post Prom Cancelled

FREMONT- The Fremont and Bergan Post Prom Committee has announced that they cannot safely hold prom and post-prom due to concerns regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“After working alongside the Three Rivers Public Health Department we have made the difficult decision to cancel the prom/post-prom scheduled for July 22nd. Following the current Directed Health Measure, our students would not be able to have fun and enjoy their time as they should. We truly wish we could give students one small piece of their high school experience back.,” said committee member Heather Gossett.
Gossett stated that the event would have been too restricted and what they had planned would not be able to take place. Post Prom is about the safety of the students and they want everyone to be healthy for graduation and the upcoming school year.
“The kids would have to be in groups at tables no larger than eight. If we had a dance, the tables would be spread out and the students would have to stay at their tables dancing next to it. We knew that wouldn’t be what students wanted,” said Gossett.
The committee is still deriving a plan for each senior to receive a special gift through donations.
“We do have some really great ideas to honor and support our students who will miss out on prom and post-prom this year. We will be giving each senior a gift thanks to the generous donations we received from parents and also from our business partners in the community. We wish all of the seniors the best of luck as they continue on with their journeys beyond high school,” said Gossett.
For the Fremont and Bergan post-prom and prom committee, their main focus will now be on planning for the next event which will be on April 24, 2021.
