Anders Named to Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Midland University’s Katlin Anders was named a First Team Selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Softball Academic All-America Team on Monday. The teams were announced for the 2020 season despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.
Anders, a senior from Corona, California, majored in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Business Administration while playing softball for the Warriors. In her three-plus seasons she has earned several awards and holds several program records.
In 134 games she has a .428 batting average and a slugging percentage of .687, both school records. She also ranks 5th in runs batted in (102), 4th in doubles (41), and 3rd in home runs (20). She was selected to the All-GPAC First Team three times, was the 2019 GPAC Player of the Year, and earned NAIA Second Team All-America honors in 2019 as well.
“When I think of Katlin, I think of a drive and discipline to work hard and get things done,” said head coach Mike Heard. “She accomplished everything she did while also working almost full-time hours the past couple of years.”
