Fremont Park and Recreation Update

FREMONT- The Fremont Park and Recreation Board met Tuesday, June 2nd, at 7 pm through Zoom for their monthly meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, they welcomed the new Park Board member, Aaron Paden.
The first topic on the agenda was the possibility of installing a fountain in Johnson Lake. Don Cunningham brought this item forth in a past meeting and got approval to look for bids, cost, and other items pertinent.
During the June 2nd meeting, they discussed the three bids Cunningham had received and the pros and cons. One main item board members pushed for was to have the fountain be able to be in the lake year-round without breaking during freezing temps. One of the three bids had this possibility.
The fountain would have to be cleaned once a year and members agreed that it would be a good idea to talk with the Fremont Fire Department to see if they would like to use that opportunity as training for divers.
At the end of the discussion, the motion carried to continue having Cunningham research and come up with an official cost and proposal that they could take to the Fremont City Council.
The other pressing item on the agenda was the possible need to change Park Board meeting days. There have been conflicts with special meetings and study sessions for the Fremont City Council.
The board moved to hold meetings on the first Monday of the month rather than on Tuesdays.
The motion carried with all members voting to move the meetings to the first Monday of the month. The board will not be having a July meeting and will instead meet again on Monday, August 3rd, 2020 at 7 pm.
