FREMONT – From parks to police to the power plant, Brian Newton & Bob Flittie discussed a wide range of topics that will interest and impact the city throughout June.
Parks
Among the items on the Park & Rec Board meeting Tuesday is an update from Don Cunningham on his proposal to create a water fountain in Johnson Lake.

Police & City Planning
Fremont’s Civil Service Commission meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:15 for police officer candidate interviews. Brian Newton says the interviews will be “in-person:”
Bob Flittie asked Newton what the preliminary process is like leading up to the one-on-one interviews this week:
Even though Fremont has a 2-year budget, officials will begin looking at figures this summer:
And Brian Newton was pleased to find that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic appears less severe on the City budget than first thought:
Power Plant & Utilities
Fremont hit 93-degrees Monday afternoon, with a heat-index of 95. Tuesday will be warmer still. Bob Flittie wanted to know from Newton if the Power Plant is ready to handle the increased demand:

There will be a brief, 2-hour shut-off of water in one residential neighborhood in Fremont Tuesday morning, starting about 10:00, and lasting til about noon. Brian Newton explains why:
