Fremont Family YMCA to Reopen With Extensive Modifications

FREMONT – The Fremont Family YMCA announced today that it will be reopening on Saturday, May 9 under extensive modifications and new rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The YMCA experience will be different than what members have experienced in the past, according to the organization.

Some important changes include:

• Hours to work out will be Mon.-Fri. 5am-8pm; Sat. 7am-3pm; Sun. 12:30pm-4pm
• Members must enter through the Wellness Center Doors. The Front Doors are reserved for use of childcare or for members needing front desk assistance.
• The check in process will take a while. FFYMCA will be taking members’ temperatures, signing waiver forms, assigning workout areas (to stay within the 10 person rule), and going over new protocols.
The Y asks that members wear masks during this check-in process. Masks can be removed to work out. Please allow extra time for this and be patient with the staff.
• Workouts will be limited to one hour per person.
• Members must be at least 16 years of age to exercise, and the facility is open to Fremont Family YMCA members only.
• Members must bring their own water, sweat towels and exercise mats. Locker rooms will not be available for use. People who are working out will use the bathrooms in the back hall by the locker rooms.
• The only areas that will be accessible to members for fitness will be the Wellness Center, the Cross Training Room, and the Large Gym. There will be enough areas available for up to 50 people to work out at one time. Other areas of the Y will open during Phase 2 and 3, coming in the future.
• The Methodist Fremont Health Wellness Center will open to hospital employees only on Monday, May 11.
Please go to the YMCA website at fremontfamilyymca.org for a complete list of changes and restrictions.
