Adama Sanogo Commits to Connecticut; NU Scholarship Spot Open

Nebraska target Adama Sanogo committed to Connecticut on Tuesday, leaving NU with an open scholarship spot for the 2020-21 roster.
Sanogo will officially reclassify to the 2020 recruiting class. The Huskers had been a favorite to land the 6-foot-9 center from the New York City area, but Sanogo chose a college 150 miles from his prep school.
In the past few weeks, Nebraska has been focused on adding a big man to the roster, with Sanogo as the main priority. Now the options for the Huskers to do that before next season are slim.
Jeff Otchere, a 6-11 junior from Stony Brook whom NU contacted through the transfer portal, signed with Texas-Rio Grande Valley last week. The rest of the transfers NU had been in contact with have signed elsewhere as well.
NU did reach out to 6-11 center Gabe Wiznitzer on Tuesday. The four-star center in the 2021 class could reclassify to 2020. He’s ranked as the No. 25 power forward in the 2021 class and No. 4 in Virginia.
Nebraska could keep the final scholarship spot open with the possibility of adding a transfer this summer.
Even without Sanogo, Nebraska is adding a wealth of size to its roster next season, including 6-9 forward Lat Mayen, 6-8 Dalano Banton, 6-8 Derrick Walker, 6-6 Shamiel Stevenson and 6-5 Teddy Allen. NU will also return 6-9 Yvan Ouedraogo, who set a freshman record for rebounds last season.
