FPS Prepares for Phase Two of Continuous Learning Plan to Begin Tuesday, April 14

FREMONT – Fremont Public Schools is announcing the second phase of their
Continuation of Learning Plan to be implemented during the indefinite closure of schools in the FPS District.
The Continuation of Learning Plan Phase Two will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
During phase one of the Continuous Learning Plan, packets were made available on Monday, March 23rd by physical pick up or online. Phase 1 will last through this Friday, April 10.
Phase two of the Continuous Learning Plan begins on Tuesday, April 14, following the 2019-2020 school calendar with no school originally scheduled for Monday, April 13. This phase will include online and offline learning opportunities for students in grades K-12. Grades PK-4 Continuation of Learning:

Packets of FPS curriculum materials for all Prekindergarten through 4th grade students have been prepared for April 14-May 21, 2020. The school encourages all students to have a physical packet to work directly in.

  • PK-4 Packet distribution will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm and again from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at all elementary schools.
  • Families who cannot pick up on Tuesday will be encouraged to contact their building on Wednesday, April 15, to arrange a time to go into the vestibule to get the packets they need. After April 15, families are encouraged to call the school to leave a message or email their child’s teacher or school principal to make arrangements to obtain a packet.

Assignments will not be graded. Live Online sessions with classroom teachers for Kindergarten through 4th grade will begin on Wednesday, April 15 to allow students time to pick up the materials. This start date also equalizes the number of sessions between the grade levels. Directions for attending these online sessions will be shared with K-4 parents directly by the student’s school.
 

Grades 5-8 Continuation of Learning

Instruction will be delivered via online materials or printed material packets. Packets are being sent to families who indicated they will not be participating online via the postal mail. Those still in need of packets should contact their school via email:

Grades 9-12 Continuation of Learning & Graduation Requirements

Instruction in courses leading toward graduation credit will be delivered to stuednts in these grades via online or printed materials. Class credits and assignments will be  classified as earned/not earned toward graduation. Packets for students who have indicated they will not be participating online can be picked up at the front doors of Fremont High School from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.

District Issued Chromebook Repair

Student Chromebook repairs, specifically repairs due to hardware failures or accidental damage to the Chromebook, can be arranged through the school. If your student’s Chromebook is in need of physical repair, the Chromebook and charger will be turned in, and the student/parent will need to send an email message to chromebook.repair@fpsmail.org. The message must include:
■ Student’s First and Last Name
■ Student’s Grade
■ Description of the problem
FPStech will respond to the message and arrange a time for the Chromebook to be
dropped off and swapped for a replacement Chromebook at the Main Street
Education & Administration Building, located at 130 East 9th Street at the West entrance under the walkway.

Phase Three

Next school year, Fremont Public Schools teachers will work with students to review information not learned, covered or tested during the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to ensure it is mastered.
