Partial Lane Closures as Work Begins on Bell Street

city-of-fremont

FREMONT – The City of Fremont announced several road construction projects getting underway this week.

The Bell street asphalt overlay project started Monday morning. Work will include installing ADA compliant ramps, traffic loop detectors, adjusting structures in pavement, milling of the roadway and resurfacing of the roadway.

There will be temporary road closures until work is complete, shutting down roughly 3 blocks of the northbound outside lane at a time to get the ramps completed. Then they will shut down 3 blocks of the southbound outside lane at a time to get the west ramps completed. Once the ramps are done, crews will start shutting down multiple lanes at a time to mill and resurface the road. The road will be partially open during this process, two lanes at a time.

Two pavement rehabilitation projects will also start this week, beginning with the intersection of 3rd and I street. This project is will start on Wednesday, with a complete intersection closure. Pavement work will also start this Wednesday on 3rd & Birchwood, with a complete intersection closure for that project, as well.
