NCAA Basketball Tournament Games Cancelled

OMAHA – Consider your bracket busted – way before Selection Sunday ever began. The NCAA has cancelled all remaining tournament play for winter and spring sports.
NCAA President Mark Emmert and the NCAA Board of Governors have canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all other remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. The Big 10 made a similar announcement about its sports programs. This means that neither March Madness nor the College World Series will be played this year. This is the first time since 1939 that the Division I basketball tournament will not be played; a College World Series has not been missed since 1947.
“This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities,” said the NCAA in its public announcement about the decision.
