Lady Warriors Ranked Ninth in Preseason Soccer Poll

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University’s women’s soccer team found themselves in the top 10 of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Coaches’ Poll for just the second time as they prepare to begin their 2019 season. The Lady Warriors ended 2018 ranked ninth as well after their deepest postseason run in school history.

“We are excited about the upcoming season,” commented head coach Greg Jarosik. “We have returned essentially our entire team from 2018 and have also added some very nice pieces. This year we are deeper then we have ever been at Midland and I am excited to get things started.”

The Warriors return nearly every player from last year’s squad and were picked to finish atop the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) by the conference’s coaches. They’ll begin their campaign on Sunday, August 25 against 14th-ranked Eastern Oregon. That game will take place on the turf at Heedum Field in Fremont and will be the first of five non-conference matches to begin the year.

Midland begins GPAC play on Saturday, September 21 with a road match at Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa.

“We having a challenging opening to the season with Eastern Oregon and Vanguard as our first two games, Ottawa also qualified for the national tournament last year as well,” Coach Jarosik said about the early schedule. “The GPAC also looks strong again this year, so we have a very difficult rod ahead of us.”
