More than $1 million worth of marijuana and related items were seized Wednesday after authorities pulled over a semitrailer truck on Interstate 80.
The Nebraska State Patrol pulled the Freightliner over at 8:20 a.m. because the truck made an improper lane change, according to a statement from the patrol. The truck also had a lighting defect.
During the traffic stop on eastbound I-80 near Kearney, the patrol said a drug-sniffing dog detected the odor of illegal drugs.
Two West Coast men in their late 40s were arrested. One man is from California, the other from Oregon.
Seized were 290 pounds of marijuana, 2.5 pounds of marijuana wax and 3.6 pounds of marijuana-infused vape tubes.
The two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana — more than 1 pound, possession with intent to deliver, and no drug tax stamp. They were taken to the Buffalo County Jail.
