Libbie M. Dirks, 100 years, of San Antonio, TX died April 24, 2019 in San Antonio.
Libbie was born November 4, 1918 in Linwood, NE to Anton and Mary (Kubicek) Travnicek. She was a 1937 graduate of Linwood High School.
She attended Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing for 3 years, then attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the University of Michigan for 1 1/2 years. Libbie was a Registered Nurse and employed by the VA Medical Center in Big Spring, TX until retiring in 1982.
Libbie married Henry Dirks, Jr. on October 2, 1943 in Fremont, NE. Henry died August 20, 1994. After their marriage, the couple lived at Ann Arbor, MI, Appleton, WI, Iowa City, IA, Ft Mead, S.D. and Louisville, KY and then moved to Big Spring, TX in 1954.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a garden club and sewing club in Big Springs. She was a Brownie Scout Leader for 8 years and active in her children’s school.
Libbie is survived by son, Henry B. (Brenda) Dirks, III of San Antonio, TX; daughters, Kathryn (Walter) Taylor of Quitaque, TX, Mary (Eddie) Quillin of Libby, MT and Barbara (Larry) Potvin of Payson, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Adolph, Ernest and Edward Travnicek; and sisters, Emily Vitamvas and Rose Hines.
