Bergan Football Ends at State

In the division C2 high school playoffs on Friday, Norfolk Catholic took Bergan 77 to 32. 32 Bergan ends year 6-4.

World Series Ends

Steve Pearce homered twice and David Price worked into the eighth inning as the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles, 5-1 in Game 5 to win their fourth World Series title since 2004. Pearce came away with series MVP honors by delivering three home runs and seven RBIs over the final 11 innings of the Fall Classic.

Price served up a leadoff homer to David Freese but allowed just two other hits for his second victory of the series.

Huskers Win

Quarterback Adrian Martinez completed 15-of-22 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns, JD Spielman returned a punt for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Nebraska built an early lead en route to a 45-9 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.

A Memorial Stadium crowd of 88,735 saw Nebraska (2-6, 1-4 Big Ten) improve to 12-0 all-time against FCS foes in a make-up game for the season opener against Akron that was cancelled because of severe weather.

Since beginning the season 0-6, the Huskers have won two straight games as they prepare for a Big Ten Conference road game at Ohio State on Saturday.
