OMAHA, Neb. – Not many times does an NAIA school get to face an NCAA Division I school on the athletic playing field but on Sunday afternoon Midland University squared up with University of Nebraska-Omaha in men’ tennis. The Warriors had their struggles going against some of the better athletes they’ll face all year but were able to take a single match, falling 8-1 to the Mavericks.
Ryan Vitera won the lone match for Midland in No. 5 singles. He defeated Alex Woodward in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) for the Warriors lone win.
Midland is now 4-4 in dual play this season. They will look to rebound from a pair of back to back losses this upcoming weekend when they travel to Illinois for a three dual in three days. The Warriors will take on Judson University on March 16th followed by Purdue University Northwest on the 17th and Lewis University on the 18th.
