SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Midland University took care of business on their final regular season conference road trip as they defeated Briar Cliff University in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday. The Warriors led wire to wire in their 4-1 decision in game one and then battled back to win game two by a score of 11-5, after being down 3-2 after three innings.
Jaylee Hinrichs earned the win for both games as she went the distance in game one and came on in relief in the second game. She allowed three hits and one run in 9.0 innings or work while striking out 17 BCU batters.
Offensively the Warriors compiled 26 hits in the series. Bailey Hartman had five of those hits including a monster three-run home run in the 6th inning of game two that cleared the centerfield wall and landed in the adjoining baseball field. Hartman also was team leader in RBI on the day with four runs batted in.
With the wins, the Warriors win streak moved to six games and pushed them out of a three-way tie for the top spot in the GPAC softball standings.
