LINCOLN, Neb. – Midland University men’s bowling will be vying for a national championship this week as they compete in the 2018 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships. The Warriors will begin bowling on Thursday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, just over an hour’s drive from campus, giving them a ‘home-lane’ advantage. Midland held their home invitational back in October at the same lanes.
Joining Midland in the field of 12 teams are: Arizona State University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Lindenwood University, McKendree University, Morehead State University, Notre Dame College, Robert Morris University (Illinois), Savannah College of Art and Design, St. Ambrose University, Webber International University, Wichita State University, William Patterson University, William Penn University, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Qualifying and the first two rounds of the of the double-elimination tournament will be on Thursday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Match play will continue on Friday at 8:30 a.m. and the finals will be played at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Last year Webber International won the men’s team championship over McKendree. Midland qualified ninth into bracket play where they were beaten by Wichita State in the first round and then eliminated by eventual champion Webber International in the fifth round.
