INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Midland University had a pair of bowlers earn all-tournament honors at the 50th Annual Hoosier Classic. Both Kristopher Yadao and Zach Karr earned the award on the men’s side after a strong six games of individual play. Yadao was the top male bowler with a pin fall of 1354. Karr finished tied for 4th with a count of 1274 pins.
As a team the Midland men battled their way through the field of 66 teams to an 11th place finish. They finished with a tournament score of 8720 and missed the cut for bracket play by a mere 85 pins.
Robert Morris had the best qualifying score (9126) and would roll their way to the championship as well, defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater in the title match.
The Lady Warriors also had to battle the large field of 66 teams on their side as well. They finished in the top third with a 22nd place finish knocking down 7992 pins during the two-day event.
Pikeville had the best qualifying rounds on the women’s side but it was 4-seed St. Francis that found themselves as the last team standing after losing just one game during bracket play.
Up next on the schedule for Midland is the USBC Sectional Qualifier on March 8-10. The event begins with the singles qualifier on Friday followed by two days of Baker play, four blocks, on Saturday and Sunday. The Warriors will find out which of the four sites they’ll be competing at later this week.
