FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University broke a four-game losing streak on Friday night as they took care of Creighton University by a score of 6-1. The Warriors, who were playing without the services of a few regular skaters, took advantage of home ice for the five goal victory.
Midland scored three goals in the opening period, two in the second, and once more in the third period while outshooting the Bluejays 67-12.
Tanner Mros scored at the 2:27 mark of the first off a pass from Kean Kontor. At the 11:17 mark Ben Bergman scored the eventual game-winner off a pass from Hamish Campbell and Fletcher Chun.
With time winding down in the period, Mason Cirone scored off an assist from Drew Carriere at the 17:19 mark. The duo would open up the second period with a goal just 24 seconds into the period.
They would switch roles for the Warriors’ fifth goal of the night as Carriere scored at the 9:43 mark of second period off of an assist from Cirone and Kevin Finley.
In the final period, Kontor scored his first collegiate goal at the 2:08 mark. Detrich Wilkerson assisted on the goal.
Midland (6-6) will look to keep things going this upcoming weekend as they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the University of Oklahoma. The Warriors and the Sooners will play a two-game series beginning on Saturday, November 16.
