Warriors in Sixth after 36 Holes of the GPAC Men’s Golf Qualifier

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Midland University’s men’s golf team competed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Fall Golf Qualifier on Monday and Tuesday this week. Teams played 36 holes at Willow Run in Sioux Falls and will play the final 36 holes this spring at Woodland Hills in Eagle, Nebraska.

At the midway point of the qualifying tournament, Morningside College sits atop the team leaderboard. The Mustangs shot 569 (286-283) over the first 36 and hold an 8 stroke lead over defending champion Northwestern College who shot a 577 (286-291).

The individual leader is Cody Holck from Morningside. He sits three strokes under par (139) and has a one shot lead over Justin Kraft of Northwestern (140).

Midland sits middle of the pack as a team, sixth out of the ten GPAC schools, with a 596 (295-301). Leading the way for the Warriors is Joe Vest who is in a tie for ninth (144). Vest led the field after day one when he shot a 67 (-4).

Hunter Giesselmann and Garrett Josten both join Vest in the top half of the individuals with a scores of 150, tied for 20th position. Garret Giesselmann and Ryan Thompson are both tied for 37th with postings of 156.

Up next for the Warriors this fall is the Nebraska Intercollegiate. The two-day event begin on Friday, October 6th in Norfolk, Nebraska.
