OMAHA, Neb. – For the second consecutive tournament, Midland University’s men’s golf team finished three strokes behind the winner as the Warriors finished fourth in the Midland Spring Invitational on Wednesday at Tiburon Golf Club.
The Warriors shot 303 over the tournament’s 18 holes. Concordia won a two-hole playoff with Bellevue and Doane to win the 14-team event.
“We had another tight finish where a moment of lack of concentration can make the difference in who wins,” Coach Nick Swaney said. “We will work on staying in the moment to get the most out of our rounds as we prepare for the GPAC Qualifier.”
Hunter Giesselmann tied for fourth place with a 1-over par 73 to lead Midland. Luke Janning tied for eighth with a 75, Joe Vest shot a 76, and Garrett Josten followed with a 79.
“We had another great round from Hunter, who has been fantastic all year,” Swaney said. “Luke also had another good round. He has hit the next level this spring with his confidence in his game.”
Midland finished three strokes back for third place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship Preview April 11-12.
Up next for the Warriors is the two-day GPAC Qualifier April 23-24 in Eagle, Nebraska.
