FOREST CITY, IOWA – The Midland University hockey team traveled to Forest City, Iowa with intentions of playing a two game weekend series against Waldorf University. The Warriors won their first game on Friday night 3-0 but after the game the scratched Saturday’s matchup due to a large snow storm threatening the Midwest.
With the single game win, the Warriors move to 12-2 on the season, while Waldorf drops to 3-13 on the 2019-2019 season.
On Friday night the game was tied 0-0 going into the first intermission, and looked to continue that way coming out as well. That was until, senior Blake Neumann, found the back of the net off the assist from Cy Jenson to put the Warriors up 1-0.
Not even two minutes later, Jenson got repaid by Neumann, and Ryan Conybear to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead into the second period. The final goal of the contest came when Neumann scored his second goal of the contest in the third period to bring the final tally to 3-0, and give the Midland the opening night win.
With the second game being postponed, Midland would leave with the 1-0 victory on the weekend. The postponed game will be played February 24th, at 4 p.m. in Forest City, Iowa.
Midland (12-2, 0-0 GPAC) will travel this weekend to Rock Island, Illinois for a double header against Augustana College. The games will be played inside River’s Edge ice arena, first puck drop is set for 7 p.m. December 7th.
