MARSHALL, Mo. – After a little over a month without a competitive event, Midland University’s women’s wrestling team went on the road for the first time this year to compete at the Missouri Valley Open. Four Lady Warriors made the trek and two earned 8th place finishes in their weight division.
Hailey Shiermeyer went 2-3 three on the day at 123 pounds for 8th place. Both of her wins came via a pin. The first over Hayden Lowe of King University and the second over Liliana Cortes of University of Jamestown.
Joanna Mack placed 8th at 170 pounds, going 2-3 as well. She won a 8-5 decision over Adrienne Dominguez of Lindenwood University and her other victory came via a 12-2 tech. fall over Taylor Sickels of Colorado Mesa University.
Erin Scheidt also competed at 170 pounds for Midland, going 3-2 but failing to place. She had three pins on the day over Diana Ornelas (Schreiner University), Kenya Henderson (Lindenwood-Belleville), and Katherine Orr (University of the Cumberlands).
Gabbi Hunter was the fourth wrestler for Midland. She went 1-2 on the day with a 9-7 decision over Mara Eason of Adrian College.
Up next for the Lady Warriors is the Wayland Baptist Invitational. Midland is scheduled to travel to Plain View, Texas for the December 1st event.
