The Creighton women’s golf team stands in second place at the midway point of the Creighton Classic, a 36-hole event being held at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha. The Bluejays stand just three shots behind Northern Iowa after an opening-round 306 team total.
Creighton was led by junior Margaret Hickey and sophomore Katie Allen after both shot 74s on their home course. Both women had three birdies on the back nine of Monday’s round. Allen now leads CU this fall with a 75.6 scoring average, with Hickey not far behind at 77.7.
Tuesday’s final round starts at 9 a.m. and is free to attend.
Sophomore Taylor Ward had a goal and an assist for the Omaha hockey team in a 3-3 exhibition tie with Manitoba on Monday at Baxter Arena.
Ward also scored in the sudden death shootout to send the Mavericks into the regular season on an up note following a game in which led 3-1 but saw the visiting Bisons battle back to tie the game in the third.
Omaha opens NCAA play on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, when it hosts Alabama Huntsville.
