No. 4 Oakland-Craig remains unbeaten after win over Syracuse

OAKLAND – Burton Brandt connected with Grant Stubbendeck, his lone reception, on an 89-yard touchdown pass to bring Syracuse within a 7-6 score in the first quarter, but Class C2 No. 4 Oakland-Craig scored 48 unanswered points to defeat the Rockets, 63-26, on Friday night in Oakland. The Rockets wouldn’t score again until the fourth quarter.

Knights quarterback Jared Mulder went 4-5 passing for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Gavin Saxton, Garrison Dodge and Wyatt Seagren each caught touchdown passes. Jefferson McNeill led the team in receiving yards with 48.

McNeill also had a rushing touchdown. Robby Mayberry, Ian Lundquist, and Wyatt Uhing each added a score on the ground. Mayberry led the team with 82 rushing yards.

Oakland-Craig finished with 437 total yards of total offense.

The Rockets had 306 total yards. Brandt threw for 143 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He added 62 yards on the ground and another score.

Syracuse was led in rushing by Mitchell Brinkman. He finished with 94 yards and a touchdown.

The Knights improve to 4-0 and host Tekamah-Herman (1-3) next Friday.

The Rockets drop to 0-4 and are back home against Malcolm (0-4) next week.
