MITCHELL, S.D. – No. 20 Midland University continued their winning streak with another conference shutout over Dakota Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors controlled the game throughout as they won 4-0 over the Tigers. With their sixth straight win overall and third straight in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, Midland improves to 6-1 (3-0 GPAC). DWU falls to 2-4 (0-1 GPAC) on the season.
The Warriors dominated the shot chart once again putting up 19 shots, 10 on goal, compared to 4 shots, 2 on goals, by their opponent. PT Perez and Nayeli Rodriguez both found the back of the net twice on the day while Sarah Kogen, Jericha Fox, Harlee Zancanelli and Perez all picked up assists.
Perez’s goals came at the 19th and 23rd minutes in the opening half while Rodriguez scored once before the intermission, in the 28th minute, and once after, in 53rd.
“Any road win in the conference is a great win,” said head coach Greg Jarosik. “PT and Nayeli were excellent in attack for us and set the tone. Our midfield was strong with solid play from Hannah (Stewart) and Alaina Melanson locked down the defense all game limiting their chances.”
Midland (6-1, 3-0 GPAC) look to build upon their win next Saturday when they host (RV) Jamestown (4-4, 1-1 GPAC). The match is part of Midland University’s Homecoming Weekend and will kick-off at 5:00 p.m. at Heedum Field in Fremont, Nebraska.
